Photography is a very tricky, competitive field to be in these days. As with most professions, trends are constantly changing, and what is in today can be out tomorrow. While that is very true for the architectural side of our business, people are always looking for classic, gorgeous landscape photography. My profession is not shooting landscape photography, however, during my travels for Architectural shoots I do take advantage of some of the beautiful surroundings I find around me.
We recently launched a new Etsy shop to sell prints of landscape photography that I have been lucky enough to capture over the last 20 years. For awhile now, I have wanted to be able to share some of my favorite places with others, and this new Etsy adventure is the perfect opportunity to do so.
Whether it’s to fill a home or an office, I find that people feel a sense of freedom of expression when choosing art to display. It is very important to me to provide a wide variety of landscape photography so that everyone can find something in my shop that inspires them. This particular image is of the Spring sakura bloom in Japan and hangs in my home, serving as a source of inspiration to me every day.
I am very lucky to call one of my homes San Diego, California. The rare times I am there, I do not have to travel far to experience some truly exceptional views. Some of the most beautiful sunsets have fallen over San Diego, and I try to capture the essence of each one.
It is also important for me to provide as much variety of color as possible when shooting landscape photography. Not only does it show the differences from day to day, but it allows different color options for people when choosing a photograph for their home.
One of the many perks of travelling so often for work, is stumbling upon beautiful places that I may never have seen otherwise. I took a little time to sightsee while on a work trip in Maine and happened upon this stunning view while visiting the Marshall Point Lighthouse.
Travelling so often can sometimes take its toll on me. I find inspiration in places that I never thought I would and that makes all the hard work worth it.
Ironically, even though I don’t get a lot of time at home these days, I still love to travel for leisure. I find that some of my best landscape photography has been captured when I am simply enjoying my travels and experiencing exciting new places.
Last year, I took a trip down to Mexico and captured this amazing cenote at Ik-Kil. These are the kinds places that continually inspire my love for photography and want me to share my work with others.
While I will never complain about the more tropical locals I get to visit, it is sometimes equally, if not more, exciting to visit iconic places such as Jackson Square in New Orleans or the canals of Venice.
I have found that while people love tropical views and gorgeous sunsets, they sometimes want to capture a memory of a trip or a dream of a place they may never have the means to go to.
I am so thankful for the opportunities that I have had to travel and see the world while pursuing my passions in photography. It is humbling to be able to share some of my favorite places with others through my photographs and now through our Etsy shop.
